Wanna Be An Ump?

If you are interested in joining our officiating group, here are some things you should know.

  • The Butler County Sports Officials Association has been providing high caliber officiating since 1964.   Our group is comprised of Members from all walks-of-life that are interested in promoting the game of baseball for Summer Leagues through fair and concise application of baseball's Rule Book.   We not only call balls, strikes, out and safe, we also maintain control of the game by enforcing basic rules of sportsmanship.

  • The BCSOA hold regularly scheduled meetings to ensure all Members are well-versed in the baseball Rule Book as well as umpire decorum, mechanics and positioning.   Training includes on-the-field seminars, rules testing and review of game situations.

  • The Annual Registration Membership Fee for the BCSOA includes dues, a game scheduling fee and a blanket Liability Insurance Policy for every Member while officiating a BCSOA sanctioned game.   The Registration Fee must be paid before game assignments can be made.

  • BCSOA Members share plate and field assignments, so you must have plate gear, in addition, to an official hat, shirt, pants and shoes.   Click here to purchase Equipment and Apparel or get more information at our scheduled meetings.

  • The Association officiates summer leagues in age groups:   13 & 14; 15 & 16; 17 & 18; and 19 & older.   Leagues are Pony, Colt, Palomino and Eagle County.

  • Our organization extends the invitation to join to any individual at least 18 years old who is interested in promoting baseball through officiating.
